Welcome
Out in the middle of the Galway countryside is one of the most unique venues in all of Ireland – Galway Glamping. Situated in the former farmyard complex of the Blake Estate (one of the Galway Tribes), this 11 acre site is steeped in history and has a rustic charm that is one of a kind. Hundreds of years of development, from 16th century tower house, 18th century barns, 19th century chapel to 21st century renovations, have made it what it is today – Galway Glamping!
We pride ourselves in providing top quality, unique and personable service to all of our guests. Kathleen & Joe are expert caretakers of this piece of history, and such obvious love & care also extends to their amazing hosting skills. Both have invested blood, sweat and tears in repairing the walled gardens, bringing the numerous buildings back to life and decorating them in a quirky style. Should you wish to celebrate a wedding, family gathering, birthday party, hen party or even a corporate outing their experience will enhance your memorable occasion.
In the past, the Blake owners throughout the ages would come on their horse-driven carriages and taken stock of the comings and goings of the site in the central courtyard. Visitors will notice that the courtyard has stone structures built all around it, each provided an important function in the past. What is now the Church social area was the chapel/school house for the workers of the estate and their families. The barn structures were used as storage for fodder, workers accommodation and for sheltering animals but these continue to be used now to accommodate guests and provide toilet, shower and cooking facilities. The cottage ruins were previously used by the farm foreman and his family, and we hope one day to restore these. Presently, the Boyles have now taken up the same role as the Blakes in ensuring the smooth running of this managed site.
Galway Glamping may be located in the Irish countryside, but that does not mean it is an isolated place, far from civilisation! Galway is a quick 30 minute drive away (depending on the city’s notorious traffic though!), as the M17 motorway located just a mile from the site. This access makes the venue convenient to all those using the motorway network. If Galway is too far, Tuam is a handy little town with a buzzing nightlife and many a fine restaurant and the local village, Abbeyknockmoy, is has an authentic Irish pub or two for you to experience.
Send us an enquiry today, and let’s add your event to the history of this site!
